AFLA-Cup Test Kits (for Agricultural & Veterinary Use)

IDS offers several Aflatoxin Cup kits (called
AFLA-Cup) for 5 minute screening of agricultural products. The AFLA-Cup requires no special instructions or lab equipment. Samples are extracted with methanol and water, filtered, and diluted (with the Dilution Buffer provided in the IDS kit). Here's all you have to do to run an AFLA-Cup:

  1. Add 10 drops of Substrate A and Substrate B into a glass test tube, mix, and set aside for later use (Step 5). One tube of substrate per sample.

  2. Add two drops (100 µl) of diluted sample to the center of the Cup device, and using a timer, wait 1 minute.

  3. Add two drops of the Aflatoxin Enzyme from the dropper bottle provided and wait 1 minute.

  4. Add 20 drops of Wash Solution from the dropper bottle provided.

  5. Pour the Substrate into the center of the Cup device and wait 1 minute.

  6. Interpret results: Blue color = below cutoff ; White color = above cutoff (suspect positive). All suspect positive results must be confirmed by a quantitative method such as HPLC or GC/MS.

IDS offers several
AFLA-Cup kits to meet the various government action levels around the world for different crops.

  • AFLA-2 Cup (2 ppb cutoff)
  • AFLA-5 Cup (5 ppb cutoff)
  • AFLA-10 Cup (10 ppb cutoff)
  • AFLA-20 Cup (20 ppb cutoff)
  • AFLA-50 Cup (50 ppb cutoff)
  • AFLA-100 Cup (100 ppb cutoff)

Note: The AFLA-20 Cup received AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists) approval for certain commodities and has been favorably reviewed by GIPSA.
